Week ending 26th May 2023

 Hello Everyone,

We have completed all our projects this week and are ready for a new half-term.

We ended the day with a story outside, which was lovely.

The children have probably told you about the 'Year One Bear,' but I will explain the process.
As an end of year topic the children take turns to look after 'Year One Bear' or 'Bobby' as he is sometimes known.
They can take the bear home and invite him to join in with any activities or trips. The bear is quite happy to experience anything. Your child can take photos of bear throughout the time he is with you and write about the adventures that have been shared. The photos and any written explanations come into school and we make a class book about the experiences. The book stays with the class and in years to come they can look back on the adventures they shared.
We waved Bobby off  today for his first sleep over! We are looking forward to seeing what he has to share with us on his return to school after the holiday.

Summer Two

English

We will be continuing to explore suffixes as the children become familiar with the term and recognising 'ed, '  'ing'  'er' and 'est.'

We will be learning how to write an explanation text on how to bake a cake.

Maths

The children will be learning division and multiplication by sharing, grouping and solving problems.

Science

We will be exploring the parts of trees. The children will learn the names for the different parts and write sentences to describe them.

Geography

We have a geography project that the children are very excited about beginning. We will begin by learning where the different continents are and then we focus on one each week. The first is Europe and in particular France.
If the children have anything they would like to bring from home to support this project it would be very helpful. If anyone from your family have any personal experience of a country that we visit it would be so helpful if you could come in and share your knowledge and understanding with the children. Just have a chat with me and we can arrange a convenient date and time.

RE

For the next few weeks we will be looking at faith stories and our understanding of God. The children will be given the opportunity to reflect on their own thoughts about different beliefs.

PHSE

The children will be learning about how we change as humans. We will look at photos of the different stages of life from a baby to an older adult. They will be identifying the body parts of boys and girls and how they are different. They will use the correct vocabulary to name the body parts.

ART

We will be learning about the primary and secondary colours. The children will mix the primary paint colours to make the secondary colours.

I wish you all a happy and restful week.

Ms Davis
