Hello all,
We have had another busy week full of learning and fun.
This week we have carried out our two volcano experiments using various methods.. Our first experiment was with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, the second one with coke and Mentos mints. Both worked well and the children were very excited to observe the volcanos erupting. They have created beautiful pictures of volcanos for our display.

Maths
In maths we have concentrated on 2D shapes. Using a variety of resources the children have created the shapes and have drawn them marking the numbers of corners.
Next week we will use whole-part models to make up quantities.

Phonics
During the week we have revisited digraphs; sh, ch, th, ng, ai, ee.
Please make a poster or a mat at home with the sounds we are learning at school so that the children will be able memorise the sounds faster.
We have also been working on making labels for pictures and were writing short sentences with our tricky words: I, She and He.
Next week we will continue with phase 3 sounds and the tricky words.

Pen Pals
This week we were practising one-armed robot letters: r,h,n,m,p,k,b, as well as curly caterpillars: c,o,a.
Next week we will continue with the curly caterpillar letters.

In our classroom we have a space role play are.. Next week we will learn about space. We will read information books and  The Smeds and The Smoos by Julia Donaldson. We will engage in variety of activities related to the story.

Individual photos
On Friday individual photos of children will be taken at school. Please make the children looking extra smart. They can wear their winter uniform on the day.

When collecting the children please line up on the side where the children are dismissed from, This is for the safety of your children.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Have a lovely weekend!
Mrs Sheehan
