Hello all,
Another week has flown by. In literacy we have been practising the phase 3 sounds and writing words and sentences with the new sounds.
We continued with practising our letter formation ( letters: c, a, o, s, d, e) and I am pleased to say that the children are making a very good progress in their writing ability. Please encourage writing at home.
During the week we have focused on the following letter sounds: igh, oa, oo, ar, or.
Next week we will revisit: ur, ow, oi, ear.
We will make sentences with the tricky words: he and she.
At home you could play a following game with your child. Write words on the cards e.g. moon, snail, shop, chin, night, goat, zoo, car, fork. Turn the cards upside down. Taking turns with your child choose one card at a time , read the word , than make up a sentence with this word. This will help the children to develop an ability of making up sentences independently.
Throughout the week we were reading and discussing The Smeds and The Smoos story by Julia Donaldson. The children were sharing their ideas of how to to be kind and friendly to others.
The children have worked very hard to make their own The Smeds and The Smoos books. Their illustrations are fantastic!!!
Next week we will finish our books by adding more illustrations and writing, and we will continue learning about Space.
Maths
In maths the children were introduced to whole-part models. We were looking at different ways of making up numbers and were recording our findings.
Next week we will use ten frames to practise number bonds up to 10.
Please practise number formation 1-10 at home.
We had individual school photos today. All children looked very smart and showed their beautiful smiles for the camera.
Have a lovely weekend!
