Hello Everyone,

The children in Year 1 had yet another busy week. In English, the children wrote down some questions they would like to ask ‘Traction Man’. They also made Thank-you cards for the Granny in the story.

In Maths, the children continued to learn about part whole models. They were also introduced to the symbols ‘+’ and ‘=’ and used them in number sentences.

In Science, the children learnt about mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and amphibians.

The children have been very creative this week; they made Autumn trees by finger painting for our ‘Seasons’ display. They really enjoyed having their hands painted! They also used chalk to make beautiful firework pictures.

Next Week

English

The children will be working from the book ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson to write a Witches shopping list of items needed to make a special magic potion They will also think about the different characters in the book and draw and label their own character to go on the broom. We will be exploring the rhyming couplets used in the narrative, and asking the children to come up with their own rhyming words.

Maths

The children will continue to write number sentences and recall the number bonds to 10.

Science

The children will be focusing on the changes to the weather, the environment and wildlife in the season of Autumn. We will also be planting daffodil bulbs.

RE

The children will think about what they and their family are thankful for and how they can show thankfulness.

We hope you have a lovely weekend
