Hello everyone,
We have had a
very busy but fun-filled week in Year One.
In English, the children have really enjoyed reading the book ‘Traction
Man’ by Mini Grey. They have written lovely sentences containing exciting
adjectives to describe the character and used ‘because’ and ‘and’ to extend
their sentences. They have also learnt about proper nouns. In phonics this week
the children reviewed the Phase 5 graphemes ‘ay’, ‘ou’, ‘oy’ and ‘ea’. They
also revised the tricky words ‘all’, ‘are’, ‘I’, ‘of’, ‘one’, ‘here’ and ‘today’.
In Science, the children have been learning about the season of ‘Autumn.’
In the afternoon, we went outside in the beautiful sunshine to sketch what the
trees in the playground look like in this season. We will sketch the same trees
again in Winter, Spring and Summer to observe the changes from Season to Season
