Week beginning 19th November 23018

Hello Everyone,

We have had fun this week and the children have enjoyed coming to school without uniform and with teddies!

We have been working on our number bonds to 10 and 20 this week. We use counters and boards to see how the numbers make 10.
We read and re-told the story of 'The Little Red Hen.' The children were able to use captions to show how the animals talked.
They made a leaflet to explain how to look after different pets and we turned these into a class book, which is available for you to look at when you come in.
For Design and Technology we made sliders for 'The Gingerbread Man' story.

Next week we will be composing a list of different rhymes and poems. We will be completing the missing words in rhymes and creating lists of rhyming words that we can use in poems. We will focus on Autumn poems.
For maths next week the children will be learning direction. They will show full and half turns and learn the four compass points. We will also be measuring and learning the size of a cm. The children will begin to use standard and non standard units to measure.
We will be focusing on Autumn and the weather changes for our science lesson. The children will also be writing a poem about Autumn.
This week we looked at the festival Diwali. The children heard a story that is told at Diwali, about light overcoming darkness. They used puppets to re-tell the story and the whole class worked together on a role play version. Next week we will be learning about Hannukah, which is the Jewish festival of light.
For Design and Technology we will be making moving hand levers.

I wish you all a happy and restful weekend.

Ms Davis
