Friday 16 October 2020

 Hello all,

It was lovely to speak to you yesterday about your child's progress and settling into Year 1 during our parent-teacher consultations. I was pleased to hear that the children are happy at school and are keen to engage in learning at home. We greatly appreciate your support!

Today I have put in the children's book bags the lists of words with the letter sounds we have been learning at school. The children who did not have their book bags at school today will get the list on Monday. Please use the list  every so often for reading and writing practise. You can also use the words for making sentences.

Spellings

I am aware that some children found the last week's spellings challenging. From now on I will post five phase 2 words and 5 phase 3 words. I want all the children to practise the first five words and if you feel your child is able to learn Phase 3 words please practise them too.

Phase 2

tap, sit, tin, man, sad

Phase 3 words

moth, bath, long, sing, was

We will have a spelling test on Friday.

Maths

In maths the children were introduced to the number rods. They have been learning about the properties of the rods by creating their own designs. We will continue using the number rods for number bonds next week.

In PE the children continued mastering their Basketball skills.
In Science we have been learning about parts of plants. The children have made pictures of plants and have labelled each part.
Next week our learning will focus on our emotions. We will read  'Silly Billy' story by Anthony Browne and will make our own worry dolls .
Have a lovely weekend!
