Week beginning 10th December 2018

Hello Year One,

We have been busy rehearsing for the Christmas concert this week. The children are really enjoying performing and singing. They are excited for you to come and see them next week.

We have continued with the curriculum throughout the week. In maths we have been doubling and halving and working on subtraction from ten.

We wrote about Christmas elves and pixies in our English lesson and created Spring poems as we focus on this season in Science. The children are learning the seasons and the months of the year. They can discuss what happens outside in each season and are able to explain why the weather changes. They understand that weather change affects wildlife, trees and plants.

Next week we will be performing to the school on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday parents, carers and friends will be coming to watch the concert.

On Wednesday it is open evening for parents from 3 - 4.30pm. If you are coming to the afternoon performance you can come straight to the class room to look at your child's work and then take your child home.

On Thursday we will be having our Christmas dinner, followed by a movie in the hall.

Friday next week is Christmas jumper day and the children can wear festive clothes.

We will be working on money and ordering numbers in maths next week.

For English we will be writing about our experiences of Year One so far. We will write poems about Spring and continue to learn how to structure sentences.

I hope to see you on Sunday at The Christmas Fayre. Thank you for all your contributions to the class hamper. It will be a lucky win for someone!

Many thanks
