Week ending 25th March 2022

 Hello Year One,

We have had a busy week with lots of variety. On Monday the children posted their letters to their friends. I hope you have started to receive them.

On Wednesday we went for our Spring walk to notice the changes from Winter to Spring. The children used their senses to describe the experience.

The home projects are coming in now and they are so impressive. The children are so proud and they get to share their models with the class and follow up with questions.

We have been report writing in our English lessons as we learned about a dragon who could breathe rainbow clouds!

In our maths lessons we have been learning our number bonds to twenty and how different values added together can make the same total.

We have continued to work on our farm project and I know the children are looking forward to our trip to Willows farm after the Easter holidays. I will need 4 adult helpers for the trip. If you are interested in coming with us please let me know.

For PSHE we have been learning about healthy lifestyles and the children are aware of the different things they need to do to stay healthy.

The children are writing The Easter Story during our RE lessons.

Next week we will be continuing to write reports about dragons, For maths the children will be working on the part/whole model when working with numbers to twenty.

We will have great fun using paints to create Easter cards and having a quiz on farm life.

I am very sad to say that Mrs Reusch will be leaving us at Easter. She is moving on to a different type of work and is very excited about it. We have explained this to the children and they are looking forward to getting a party ready for her on the last day of term.

I wish you all a happy and relaxed weekend.

Hello Year One,

So good to be back and see you all again this week.

I found a photo of the children at World Book Day so am sharing that with you now.

This week the children have been busy writing letters to each other which they will post , so your child should receive some mail next week!
We had great fun creating model creatures on Thursday.

We have been subtracting numbers from up to twenty in our math's lessons and have been practicing reciting numbers from twenty backwards.

NEXT WEEK

English

Next week we will continue to work on phonics daily, practise handwriting three times and learn our spellings. We will also begin report writing!
We have a new class book called 'The Night Dragon' by Naomi Howarth and we will be working from that story to create a report about the beautiful and very clever Night Dragon Maud!

Maths

For maths the children will be finding different ways of making the same total and learning their number bonds to twenty.

Science

The children will be experiencing the changes in the weather and environment as Spring arrives. We may schedule a walk to the woods if the weather stays as beautiful as it is today. I will keep you updated!

Geography

We are continuing to explore farms and next week we will be finding out how the seasons affect farming.

PHSE

Next week we will be reading some social stories about relationships in school and what to do if you find yourself in a difficult situation. We will talk about what it means to be a friend and about the choice and freedom to make many friends.

I wish you all a very happy and relaxing weekend and hope this wonderful weather continues!
