 Hello everyone,

It’s been a fun-filled week in Year 1. The children all looked amazing in their World Book Day costumes yesterday! It was wonderful to see them so full of excitement. They also enjoyed their workshop with the poet Stewart Henderson, who shared some of his amusing poems and spoke about his career and how he comes up with his ideas.

Next Week

Maths – The children will begin a new topic on measuring length and height.

English – The children will continue working with the book Stanley’s Stick. They will write sentences giving advice, write in role as Stanley, and begin planning a similar version of the story.

D&T – The children will use levers and pivots to create a moving mechanism.

Geography – The children will learn about compass directions.

Science – The children will be grouping animals into different groups.
