Hello everyone,
We’ve had a fantastic week in class. On Thursday, Mrs
Watson came into Year 1 to help us with planting a variety of herbs, vegetables
and flowers. The children had a wonderful afternoon and we can’t wait to watch
our plants grow over the coming weeks. A special thank you to all the children
who brought in seeds and plants for us to use.
In English, the children wrote amazing letters of advice
to the character of Leo. They also wrote factual sentences about octopuses and
came up with a variety of questions.
In Maths, the children began a new topic based on mass
and volume. They explored ‘heavier’ and ‘lighter’, measured and compared ‘mass’
and explored ‘full’ and ‘empty.’
Next Week:
Maths- The children will
compare and measure volume and capacity.
English- The children will
write a log book in the past tense. They will also use explanation marks in
speech bubbles and plan and begin to write a non-fiction report.
Science- The children will
learn about deciduous and evergreen trees. They will also be exploring the
season of Spring.
RE- We will continue to
discuss and learn about the Easter story.
