Good Evening,

The children have worked so hard this week, well done everyone!

In English, the children used adjectives to label a picture of a Superhero. They wrote letters to a Superhero asking for help to defeat the baddies ‘Filth’ and ‘Vacuum’ from the story ‘Send for a Superhero.’ They also learnt about plurals and when a ‘s’ or ‘es’ should be used. In phonics the children have learnt the alternative pronunciations for the graphemes ‘y’, ‘ow’, ‘g’ and ‘ph’. They have also learnt the tricky words ‘who’, ‘whole’, ‘where’ and ‘two’.

In Maths, the children have been learning about place value to 20. They have explored the numbers 14-20 using counters, dice, Numicon, bead strings and multi-link cubes.

In today’s Computing lesson, the children used the Chrome Books for the first time. They learnt about the different parts of a computer and practised their mouse skills by dragging and dropping.

Next Week:

Maths- The children will continue to explore and use a number line to 20, estimate, compare and order numbers.

History- The children will find out about the structure of medieval castles.

PSHE- The children will consider how they can work well with a partner. In pairs, the children will have to design a pair of wellies.

Phonics home learning

I have given the children a Phonics home learning sheet that contains all the new sounds and tricky words that they have learnt over the last 2 weeks. It contains the new phoneme, plus words and sentences containing that phoneme that the children have read during the week. Please practise reading these at home. Thank you!

We hope you have a lovely weekend
