Hello,
We have had another busy week in Year 1. The children have
been visiting other classrooms for friendship groups and voting for their house
team captains.
In English the children began to read the story Farmer Duck
by Martin Waddell and Helen Oxenbury. They were able to identify the repetitive
phrases in the story and went on to make fantastic predictions about what will
happen next in the story. On Monday, they will be finding out how the story ends.
Next week, the
children will begin to have handwriting lessons. They will be forming the
letters s, a and t in sand and then writing them.
The children began their phonics lessons this week. They
revised the digraphs ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, oo,
ar, or, ur, ow, er, oi, ear, air and ear. They also reviewed the tricky words
no, go, so, my, by, to, into out and the.
Next week, the
children will continue to revise the above digraphs and also sh, zz, ss, qu,
ng, ck, th, ng, nk.
In maths, the children were sorting and counting objects.
Next week, the
children will count objects from a larger group and represent the amount on a
tens frame.
